The monthly change in total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States, seasonally adjusted, in jobs. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the level in thousands. This index stores the change from the previous month, in jobs.
Monthly. The Bureau publishes at 8:30 ET, usually the first Friday. Read at 12:35, 13:35 and 14:35 UTC on weekdays. A month read at its release goes on-chain with the next daily proof, at 12:40 UTC. A month loaded as history does not.
First print
No complete month on file yet.
The first print is final for settlement; revisions are shown beside it and never replace it.
Fallback
A month that has not been published stays open. A month the Bureau never publishes is void. A revision is shown beside the first print.
Precision
Whole jobs. The Bureau publishes the level in thousands. The index is this month's level minus the previous month's level in the same release, times 1,000.
Cost to move
Not practical. Moving the month means changing the establishment survey the Bureau runs.
Grade
reference. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the number, and a venue can read it. Tickerz keeps the first number of each month it reads at release. The Bureau revises the prior two months with each release and benchmarks payrolls once a year.
For a rulebook
Settle on the Tickerz first print of $JOBS for the month named in the contract, published at tickerz.com/x/jobs and in GET /api/indices/jobs, put on-chain daily with OpenTimestamps.
First prints
None on file yet. A first print is a number Tickerz reads at its release and puts on-chain before the Bureau revises it. The Bureau publishes Oct 2026 on Nov 6 2026, 13:30 UTC.
No forecasts on this index. Calls stay off until a month has been captured as a first print. History loaded at launch is the Bureau's current figure, not a first print.
